Description

In this session, we will think about the way that infectious disease events are defined and described, and the ways we think about cause and effect when it comes to the epidemiology of infectious diseases.

Before Class

Prior to this session, please read the following selections from the medical historian Charles Rosenberg. In these pieces, Rosenberg develops the idea that there are two ways of looking at infectious disease systems - configuration-based and contamination-based approaches.

These will inform your first two assignments for the Pathogen Project, so please read these with that in mind. I will ask you to complete your final pathogen project rankings by this September 6, 2024 so that I can assign groups for next Monday’s class session.
